Ambush

This is an interesting place, they serve italian food like pasta and risotto, but it's in a food court, at basement 2 of takashimaya shopping centre, you just had to queue up and order and the staffs will arrange seats for you.

Their kitchen is the open concept kind, you can actually stand in front of the galss panel and see how the chefs are whipping up the dishes, i find this quite stressful from the chefs..

Appetizer platter consisting of cheese stick, calamari and fried prawns... totally not worth the price, looks like stuffs you can get from the supermarket and deep fry it yourself at home.. please do not order this

Mushroom soup with garlic bread. the bread was good, they use foccacia for the garlic bread.. the soup was uite tasteless though.

Baked risotto with cod fish, the fish was quite good, but the rice was too watery and the cheese didn't taste good, portion is quite huge, a little too much for 1 person.

Baked risotto with sausage, ham and i think it was bacon. nothing special, i could only finish half of it.

Japanese baby scallop penne in cream sauce with prawn roe. the pasta was not bad, the sauce was interesting and tasty. i should have ordered pasta instead or rice..

Generally i wasn't impressed with the food, i might go again to try out the pasta, this meal for 3 (soup an garlic bread for all) person costs $52, you decided for yourself if it's expensive. portion is large though

Olio Dome

Dinner at olio dome at suntec. i like the ambience of the place. warm lighting, tables not too near one another, very friendly staff too (at least most of them). it was not crowded on a sunday evening, i think all singaporeans are flocking to vivo city, so places in town seem to be good choices for dinner over the weekends. here are the iems we ordered.
I forgotten what burger this was. but the serving was quite huge. the burger was just right, it's the amount of fries that was shocking. didn't try this, so not able to comment on the taste.
Sirloin steak. quite nicely done. not a bad item to order.
Seafood risotto. this is wonderful. the last time i had risotto was in italy. i never knew that you can find such good risotto in singapore. very tasty, highly recommended.
Spinach fettucine with mushroom cream sauce. i ordered this, but after trying the risotto, i regretted. it's about the same price. but this come in such a small serving, and it's vegetarian. no meat. but taste wise, it was good. no complains for the pasta and the sauce.

Galbiati Gourmet Deli

A small little deli situated in rail mall. if you have never heard of rail mall, it's near hillview, just before dairy farm if you are travelling along bt timah road towards woodlands direction. the setting and ambience seems good, so we decided to try it out
There's no menu, you order what you want from the large blackboard hanging above the counter.
Antipasti items are displayed for you to choose from. they have quite a wide selection, and we just ordered without even asking abotu the price.

After taking a few shots around the restaurant, i was told that photography is not allowed there, so that;s the reason for the lack of food photos. anyway, the food isn't fantastic, so you are not missing anything much

We ordered a few pastas, some anstipasti, a bottle of white wine, a pizza and shared the food. the lasagna was good and i felt that it's worth the $12.50. if you choose to takeaway, it's only $10.50, i'm considering going back there just to take away the lasagna. pastas are $17 or $18, and most of them are not worth that price. pizza seems a little cold, even though they reheated it.

Waiter refused to serve ice water in the beginning, they say they do not have tap water, we could buy the bottled drinking water if we wanted plain water. but after some time, they decided to serve us ice water. i wonder how they got the tap in just a few minutes... wasn't happy with this kind of service at all, and we paid nearly $200 for a mea lfor 5.
