MOS Ankake Salmon Burger

MOS burger's new addition, the ankake salmon burger. Decided to try it instead of ordering my all time favourite spicy mos burger. and it turn out to be a good decision.
The fish was soft and juicy, the sauce was just right.. only one thing that i dun like. there's still a fishy taste with the cooked fish, maybe because it's salmon and salmon are always like that. but still i like it and will order it again if they still have it the next time. and also i think that mos has the best fries out of all the fast food outlets, big and soft in the inside.. shoik

Corduroy & Finch

This place has been opened for quite some time now, my favourite place to go for tea and chat. you can take a look at their official website.
I love this place for it's wonderfull ambience, very cosy place especially the loft area on the second floor. get a seat at the couch and you can laze the whole day away with a few friends for some informal chat. it's a nice place to chill out at night if you want to find somewhere where you can get some wine and a quiet place with a couple of friends.
I dun really like coffee, but over here, i always order their flavoured ice coffee. they have vanila, butterscotch, caramel and even hazelnut flavour.. wonderful presentation. Tried some of the food like sandwich and pasta on their menu but i wasreally impressed. Maybe one day when i feel rich, i shoudl try the recommended mains, probably those will taste good. Genrally, this place's ambience and free parking is enough to get me going back even though the food is not that good.

Ye Lai Xiang Cheng Tng

This stall is located at bedok corner food centre, it's opposite bedok camp, near tanah merah.
I like the cheng tng here because there are lots of ingredients, not like the normal ones you see at normal dessert stalls. but it's on the sweet side, so if you dun fancy sweet stuffs, you might not like it, i have not tried ordering it with less sugar. you might want to try that if you are afraid of it being too sweet for you

Bedok Corner Hokkien Prawn Mee

Quite a secluded food centre, at the junction of bedok road and upper east coast road, opposite bedok camp. this stall of hokkien mee always has a long queue at the stall.Always seeing the queue, you will be curious how come so many people are willing to wait for the mee, so we gotta try it out.
This hokkien mee is quite wet, which i personally like, but once it gets colder, it becomes very a little coagulated, then it doesn't taste as good anymore. so when you buy this, eat immediately and don't take too long to finish it up. never buy, put on the table to wait for friends, you are going to regret.

Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh

This bak kut teh place is famous among the cheongsters because it's quite near zouk and usually after clubbing, you'll feel a little hungry and this is quite an attractive item for supper.
Tried the bak kut teh many times and never though it was anything fantastic. in fact i think it doesn't really taste like bak kut teh, taste more like white pepper soup.. i was still asking if we can make the exact same thing by just throwing pork pieces and lots of crushed white pepper into boiling water and let it boil for some time.

Ye Lai Xiang Tasty Barbecue Charcoal Grill

This place is still my favourite place for western food, i've posted on this some time ago on my blog. the steak and chicken cutlet are good, dun really know about the rest because i always order these 2. but you gotta be lucky to try this food, cos the uncle open the stalls as he wishes, in the past 2 months i've been there 4 times and only this time i was lucky enough to taste the food again.
The special thing about the cutlet here is that the chicken is very tender, usually after the chicken is deep fried, it gets very tough. here, the meat comes in a huge serving and the cutlet is served with their special sauce.. delicious!!! This stall is a must must try .. wish you luck ... if it;s not open, try again another time...

Niqqi's The Cheese Prata Shop

A very popular supper place for nus students, especially those staying in the halls, because it's just within walking distance, it's just because the famous fong seng nasi lemak.
I always order the peng(ice) drinks at prata places, this time, i decided to have the milo peng and it was a bad choice. it is so diluted that i wondered if it's bacause they left an unwanted cup of milo peng somewhere and the ice has all melted before they served it to me topped up with more ice.
Since we are at the cheese prata shop, how can we not order their cheese prata, here's the banana cheese prata.
ok this one is good, very fragrant, at least the prata is not soaked in oil. this is worth ordering. Here's how the prata looked in the inside, delicious
we also ordered their maggi goreng, and it took them more than half an hour to get it done!! and they have easily more than 10 staffs at the shop!! talking about efficiency, very bad service. and the staffs are quite rude too. probably you can go there, try the cheese prata and get out, don't think too much about the service there, nothing to expect for service..

Riverside Indonesian BBQ

One of the more famous stalls at plaza singapura food court. this riverside indonesian bbq seems to be a branch of the riverside indonesian restaurant whose ad is over televised.
One thing we gotta admit is that the bbq chicken is really good, the sauce they use on the chicken is sweet and taste awesome with the chicken skin, the chicken meat is tender, comes off the bone easily.

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe

Another hong kong style cafe, it's at cineleisure, there's branches at marina square and kovan heartland mall too, heard from friends that this place is onr of the better hk cafes around, and finally got a chance to try it out. Food looks good from the large poster of photos that greeted us while we were queueing to get a get seat for ourselves.
I have always love the hk style milk tea, in their menu the have the normal milk tea and the extra rich (kao) milk tea, so since i prefered the tea to be a little bitter, i ordered the kao version, in the end it its more bitter, but it taste like ice milk tea place on the table for half an hour and the ice has all melted into the tea!! peanut butter toast was just too normal, anyone could make this at home!!
Luckily the dim sum was good, all the above items taste great, i will give a score of 7 for the dim sum.
My favourite, cheese baked spagetti with pork chop, this one is fantastic, lots of cheese, they are not giamsiap(stingy) with the cheese at all, maybe because i like cheese, so i thought this dish was good even though the pork chop and spagetti are just normal..

Updates (15 Apr 2007)

Went to the marina square branch of xin wang hk cafe. this item on the right is the mango and watermelon with chin chow, totally not worth it, it seems like something we can easily make at home! Ordered some dim sum too and they were not bad.

Izakaya Nijumaru Restaurant

Recommended by a friend, they have quite a few shop fronts on the second storey of cuppage plaza. we were served by a very very friendly waitress, dun expect to see cute young girls dress in japanese kimono over here. the one who was serving us was a middle age auntie in t shirt and jeans and a rag in one hand. over here, if you cannot read japanese, you will need the waitress' help for ordering. they have english on the menu but it doesn't help because it's just a direct translation on how to read the japanese words.
This is the teriyaki beef set, the sauce is good, but i feel that if the beef will be nicer if it's not that well done, cos the beef seemed a little tough, probably have to let them know you want it less cooked when ordering.
I ordered this, cos i like cold soba. the tempura was good but the soba was not cold enough to be called a cold soba. you gotta call this the chilled soba. anyone have any suggestions of other nice place that servers good cold soba?
Their most recommended bento set, i forgotten the name of this but it's the first item in the menu. there's rice, miso soup, makeral fish, assorted sashimi, pork belly (very very nice), and assorted tempura. this is quite a worth it item, you get to try so many different kind of food in a set. try this item if you happen to go there. On the whole we had quite a nice time having dinner there, the place is cozy, not noisy, can sit there and have a good chat with friends, but seats are a little cramp. the waitress serving us was very friendly, but when we asked for the bill, the waitress who took the bill here gave a very black face. hhmm.. so i'm not sure of the service standard.
